Detail description
Step into the shadowy halls of a haunted Scottish mansion in the 1920s, where secrets linger and restless spirits yearn for justice. Mysterium invites 3 to 7 players to unravel a chilling murder mystery through the power of visions and deduction. Designed by Oleksandr Nevskiy and Oleg Sidorenko, this cooperative game blends suspense, teamwork, and a touch of the supernatural for an unforgettable tabletop experience.
One player assumes the role of the ghost—an amnesiac spirit unable to speak, desperate to reveal the truth behind their untimely demise. The other players become mediums, each striving to interpret the ghost’s cryptic visions and piece together the events of that fateful night. Communication is anything but straightforward: the ghost can only convey clues using beautifully illustrated vision cards, filled with surreal imagery that challenges even the sharpest minds.
Each round represents an hour in a tense seven-hour séance. The ghost secretly assigns each medium a unique combination of suspect, location, and murder weapon cards. During their turn, the ghost distributes vision cards to each medium, hinting at which suspect they should choose. Once all visions are delivered, an hourglass is flipped—mediums must quickly discuss, debate, and decide which suspect matches their clues. Clairvoyancy tokens add another layer of intrigue, allowing players to agree or disagree with each other's guesses for extra points.
Correct guesses propel mediums forward: first identifying suspects, then locations, and finally weapons. Incorrect guesses mean another round of visions and deduction. The clock is always ticking—if all mediums fail to solve their assigned combinations before time runs out, the ghost’s memory fades into oblivion and the mystery remains unsolved.
Should every medium succeed in piecing together their clues before the seventh hour ends, a final challenge awaits. The ghost selects one group of suspect, location, and weapon as the true solution and provides three final vision cards—one for each element. Mediums must use their accumulated clairvoyancy points to unlock these last hints and vote on who they believe committed the crime. Only if a majority votes correctly can the ghost finally rest in peace.
Mysterium offers a rich blend of deduction, imagination, and teamwork. Its evocative artwork and atmospheric gameplay make every session unique—no two mysteries unfold in quite the same way. With rules presented in Czech and a recommended age of 10+, it’s an ideal choice for families or groups seeking a medium-difficulty cooperative challenge that rewards communication and creative thinking.
